The VABS Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing policies to maintain a safe and healthy work environment within OIC’s VABS department, which includes construction, warehousing, and trucking. This position ensures that safety operations are executed in compliance with relevant regulations, fostering ongoing growth and quality improvement. The individual in this role must be flexible to work across all shifts and conduct annual truck driver safety training and corrective safety sessions as needed. This role serves as the primary point of contact for Foley Carrier Services and East Coast Risk Management concerning DOT safety compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement safety policies and procedures for VABS.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Identify and recommend preventive measures to mitigate risks to employees and equipment.
- Proactively identify opportunities to reduce worksite injuries and trucking accidents.
- Partner with the Warehouse Manager to conduct daily and random inspections of vehicles, forklifts, and facilities.
- Work closely with Human Resources to identify and address potential hazards, recommend safety training, and suggest policy revisions.
- Oversee compliance of drivers and vehicles with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensuring proper vehicle operation and up-to-date driver qualifications.
- Investigate and report accidents and incidents to management and HR Safety Manager.
- Collaborate with the Warehouse Manager to identify and address health, safety, and environmental risks in the facility.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety Compliance, Safety Engineering, Logistics, Operations Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of safety experience in an industrial environment required, with preference given to candidates experienced in DOT regulations.
$55,000 to $85,000 (commensurate with experience)
