Hastings Insurance is seeking a Computer Systems Operator to join its IT Infrastructure and Operations team! The individual in this role will perform the basic tasks required to operate the Systems used in the Hastings Insurance IT environment. This role will monitor Mainframe jobs, Control M batch cycling jobs, and triage any reports on non-prod and Production cycles via SBM.

Position Location & Work Format

This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position, that will generally work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In addition this role will work one Saturday shift every two months, and one 3rd shift every six months for month-end processing.

Initially, the individual in this role will work onsite at our Hastings, Michigan offices for basic training, but will shift to remote work after training is completed. Aside from the this period, onsite work would be minimal and occur only occasionally.
Position Duties & Responsibilities

Monitors mainframe operations, creating and logging incidents to critical issues and triaging tickets through SBM and JCL.

Review and edits along with Bim Edit administration work.

Administration work of Mobius View, archiving and maintaining report depository.

Utilizes Control-M to monitor the daily, weekly, and monthly batch cycles in Non-Prod and Production environments and address any failed alerts by recovering, triaging, or restarting jobs.

Effectively coordinates and collaborates across IT teams to review and analyze our environmental tasks and underlying issues.

Schedules deployments in Octopus.

Ensures that incident management tickets and Service requests are handled appropriately and promptly.

On rare occasions, we may need to perform System Printer(s) Operational activities as a backup, which requires managing large commercial printers, loading forms, pushing output, and delivering to appropriate areas. This is an onsite process.

Maintains department documentation on procedures.

Actively participates in professional development, i.e., continuing education or self-improvement.

Other duties as assigned by leadership, either verbally or in writing.
Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. College work or degree a plus. Technical Certifications such as A or similar are desired.

Experience with Control-M Job Scheduling Software is highly desired.

Demonstrated problem-solving ability required.

Knowledge of primary PC and Microsoft Office products.

Experience working within an IT operations setting is helpful.

Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to type efficiently, both on a regular keyboard and 10-Key.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Punctuality and dependability are required, given the nature of a support-level role.

Ability to work any shift as needed and assigned.
