Position Summary
CHC offers the unique opportunity to assume an integral role within the real estate group by working with the investment teams in acquisition, asset, and portfolio management as well as the client service and client relationship teams. The real estate research professional will work directly with these teams to not only source insights on real estate market trends, but to also support their efforts by ground-truthing economic and real estate market trends and conditions. In collaboration with these teams and the Managing Director of Research, provide support for strategic and tactical decisions to enhance performance. Other responsibilities include producing thought leadership as well as maintaining standardized reports and presentations on the financial and real estate markets and the U.S. economy. The position requires credible analysis of long-term strategic and shorter term market moving events and to provide actionable investment recommendations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research on U.S. real estate trends at both the sector and market level
- Analyze economic and real estate indicators to identify opportunities and risks in the market
- Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders summarizing findings and actionable recommendations
- Collaborate with internal investment and client relationship teams to align research activities with business and client needs
- Create and maintain market monitoring reports covering the economy, sector allocation and market selection.
- Conduct specialized research on established and emerging property sectors to drive thought leadership
- Communicate research results clearly and concisely to internal and external audiences
- Build and maintain industry relationships with key real estate organizations and government agencies to further the research agenda and foster innovation in real estate investing
Desired Skills & Experience
- Bachelors’ degree (Preferably in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Math/Statistics)
- A minimum of 10-years of proven experience in real estate economics, finance, and statistics
- The ability to identify and address issues, anticipate challenges, and develop effective solutions
- Detail oriented with exceptional analytical and organization skills, effective oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency using major industry data sources such as CoStar, Bloomberg, MSCI, NCREIF, Greenstreet, Moody’s and various government and real estate trade organization data sources
- Advanced proficiency in Excel/Microsoft Office Suite
