What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Dog Trainer position at Opportunity Barks Inc.?
We’re Opportunity Barks Behavior & Training—the leaders in Lifestyle Dog Training. We exist to flip the script on what it means to live with a dog. This is not your grandma’s obedience class (or boarding school). We train dogs and coach humans to create lives of freedom, connection, and mutual understanding.
We are growing our Training Team in Quakertown and are looking for an Assistant Trainer who is ready to step into the future of dog training. This is for the human who is obsessed with understanding behavior, who gets fired up about helping dogs become confident decision-makers, and who wants to empower owners to lead their dogs to their best lives.
If you are a self-starting, ego-free, dog-obsessed learner who thrives on feedback and loves getting your hands dirty, you might be our people. If you want to clock in, drill some sit-stays, and coast? Keep scrolling.
THE ROLE: ASSISTANT TRAINER
We need a gritty, boots-on-the-ground teammate who can help both dogs and their people win through:
Training & Behavior Development:
- Assess dogs upon intake and identify their behavior and training needs.
- Implement structured training plans designed to create dogs who can think, regulate, and thrive in the real world.
- Train leash manners, impulse control, polite engagement, and problem-solve everyday behavior challenges alongside the Program Manager.
- Guide dogs through movement-based training: structured walks, treadmill work, confidence-building exercises, and decompression fieldwork.
- Help shift dogs from chaos to clarity through arousal regulation drills and real-world pattern games.
- Assist in group classes, private lessons, and client touchpoints
Client Communication & Coaching:
- Keep owners in the loop with timely progress updates and strategic training guidance.
- Coach humans to integrate dog training into their lifestyle—because training is 24/7, not 30 minutes on Tuesdays.
- Help troubleshoot client challenges, offering solutions that create lasting behavior shifts.
- Document every session, every win, every pivot—because precision breeds progress.
Dog Enrichment & Well-being:
- Deliver a daily cocktail of mental work, physical exercise, and decompression to meet each dog’s needs.
- Design enrichment sessions that develop thinking dogs and prevent overstimulation.
- Monitor dog play and interactions, ensuring every socialization is safe and productive.
Team Player Energy:
- Communicate clearly and consistently with the Program Manager and team members.
- Show up coachable. Feedback fuels growth, and we are all here to level up.
- Bring excellence every day. Our dogs, our clients, and our teammates deserve nothing less.
