What are the responsibilities and job description for the Energy Services Specialist - Island County (TEMPORARY FULL TIME POSITION) position at Opportunity Council?
Provides direct services to clients seeking assistance from the agency’s energy assistance and weatherization housing services programs, which provides a variety of support, services and information. Works closely with Island County Director in order to provide appropriate client resources and education. Encourages client self-sufficiency by providing education, direct service referrals and information regarding the O.C programs and other social service agencies. Serves as a key link between clients and community resources and procedures. Performs a variety of moderately complex clerical and administrative functions, including record keeping, resource information and referral, database management, scheduling and related reports generation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides direct services which include appropriate screening, eligibility, problem solving, needs
assessments, referrals, explanation of agency programs and services and short term planning.
2. Provides information and referral to clients regarding agency programs and other community agencies.
3. Performs data entry of clients’ information.
4. Advocates for clients to maintain utility service and/or heating fuel supply in home.
5. Processes information related to clients, which is confidential and maintains confidentiality of all data in
accordance with agency, state, and federal guidelines.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Attends staff meeting and trainings as scheduled.
2. Other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in a fast–paced office environment with frequent interruptions and occasional crisis situations. Intake work centers on direct service to clients and procedures that require a high degree of confidentiality, tactfulness and respect for clients from a diversity of economic and ethnic backgrounds. Regularly provides support to clients in such areas as needs assessment, program information and referral, education and problem solving.
