Description
The Lead Direct Support Professional is responsible for the direction and coaching of contracted work, training, and curriculum implementation. The Lead DSP is also responsible for meeting established goals and objectives, participating in a team approach and for ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Agency regulations and policies.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be responsible for the implementation of curriculum activities including the direction of the Direct Support staff as necessary when director is not present
- Ensure all daily ratios are met and assisting DSP’s with maintaining ratios
- Assist with training of new staff on curriculum, program implementation, and agency policies
- Monitor completion of client related documentation by the direct support professionals
- Direct and/or assist in crisis management (CPI)
- Assist with personal care and line coverage, as needed
- Demonstrate professionalism as a role model for employees and clients
- May be asked to assist with monthly ordering of supplies and maintaining necessary files
- Intervene in crisis situations and complete the necessary documentation, if necessary
- Assist in keeping client files up-to-date
- Review and maintain Enrichment Choice List (ECL) electronic file. (Renewed Horizons)
- Assist in coordinating CI van usage and repairs. (Renewed Horizons)
- All other duties as assigned by the director
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting, standing, bending and lifting
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to lift up to 125 pounds, with assistance, at times
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent ability to navigate, implement and troubleshoot technology.
- Must possess a strong service orientation, including active listening, critical thinking skills, and close monitoring of clients
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma
- 2-4 year’s experience in education or related field
- Experience with developmentally disabled population
