What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Services Assistant position at Opportunity School?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Assistant to join our team. As a Family Service Assistant, you will provide support to our team of professionals in delivering high-quality services to children and families. Your role will involve assisting with childcare, crisis intervention, conflict management, and other essential tasks.
Duties:
- Building strong collaborative relationships with families whose children are enrolled at Opportunity School.
- Assisting families in accessing and using community resources and necessary social services.
- Maintaining enrollment in Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms.
- Promoting family engagement- which may include parent committee meetings, parent events and workshops, special family events (picnics, seasonal celebrations).
- Providing family support by helping develop Individual Partnership Agreements with families. This process includes learning about families interests, needs, strengths and goals.
- Completing home visits and parent conferences with families.
- Maintaining documentation of all services as required by program.
- Implementing plans to encourage attendance of children.
- Participate in team meetings contribute insights and observations
Skills:
- Experience working with children in an early childhood or school setting
- Familiarity with social services in Amarillo
- Ability to effectively manage crisis situations and provide appropriate interventions
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate documentation
- Highly self-motivated and driven
- The Family Services Assistant serves as a liaison between the Region 16 EHS/HS program and Opportunity School.
