SUMMARY

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is an important member of Opportunity Village's executive leadership team and is responsible for driving operational strategies that advance the organization's mission of empowering individuals with disabilities. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO oversees revenue-generating operations, optimizes organizational systems, and ensures alignment with strategic goals. This role requires a compassionate and innovative leader who fosters a culture of excellence, inclusion, and accountability while guiding high-performing teams and positioning Opportunity Village for sustainable growth and meaningful community impact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the CEO and senior leadership to define and execute the organization's strategic vision.
  • Develop and maintain excellent standards of professional practice and modes of service delivery that anticipate changing community needs that can be measured and quantified.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing management team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support team member growth through training, coaching, and career development.
  • Champion inclusivity and accessibility across all programs and initiatives.
  • Foster a positive and productive workplace environment that encourages teamwork and professional engagement.
  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive operational plans that align with the organization's strategic direction and objectives.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of construction and renovation projects as required.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
  • Drive organizational scalability through process enhancements and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead and oversee special projects and initiatives that advance the organization's mission.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute construction and renovation projects to support expansion goals.
  • Manage risk assessments and mitigation strategies, ensuring organizational integrity and continuity of operations.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations while managing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Build relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders; represent the organization at events and conferences.
  • Establish success measures for operational teams and monitor progress toward defined goals.
  • Regularly review performance data and use insights to inform decision-making.
  • Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation, Isolation, and Abandonment (ANEIA) immediately as mandated by state law.
  • Some travel to a variety of locations in the Las Vegas area and between Opportunity Village campuses.
  • Must be able to meet all requirements of OV vehicle policies and travel :
  • Between worksite locations
  • Within the community
  • May be assigned other duties as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Chief Operating Officer will directly manage the following positions : Vice President of Operations, Director of Service Contracts, Director of Events, and Executive Assistant.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills to direct and motivate team members.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required : Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Required : Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience in operations, preferably within a non-profit or mission-driven organization.
  • Required : Valid driver's license and ability to meet insurance requirements.
  • Preferred : Experience working with non-profit Boards and Committees, Bylaws, and Board Governance.
