What you'll do:
The Fitter Fabricator is responsible for constructing, positioning, aligning, fitting, and assembling machine or mechanical metal parts according to company specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Fit and fabricate large grinding, sizing and material handling equipment.
- Able to maintain tight tolerances without fixtures.
- Move materials safely and efficiently using overhead and jib cranes and forklifts when necessary.
- Hard wire and flux core welding.
- Strong welding knowledge and use best practices for weld requirements in various conditions.
- Able to articulate concerns and develop solutions to design problems on a real time basis, working through shop supervision, engineering, sales, etc.
- 3 to 5 years experience MIG welding on thick gauge mild steel and good fabrication experience.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
- Perform Mig welding processes including Flux-core, Dual-shield and hardwire
- Weld material in all positions (flat, vertical and overhead)
- Familiar with welding on different types of metals (mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum)
- Able to operate forklifts safely, knowledgeable in rigging and lifting large, heavy equipment in tight quarters
- Able to operate over head and jib cranes
- Able to hold tolerances for fabricated assemblies and inspect parts.
