What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Technician position at Optical 2000?
*PAY: No experience: $11 starting, $12 after 90 days with in-house training, $13 at one year. Pay with experience and certifications will vary depending on abilities.
*Hours: Monday-Friday 8:15-5:15
*MUST BE ON TIME AND HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION
Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary tests on patients, including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and pupillary responses.
- Assist with patient history taking and documentation.
- Prepare patients for the optometrist's examination by explaining procedures and answering any questions.
- Administer diagnostic tests such as visual fields, color vision, and depth perception.
- Perform contact lens fittings and teach patients how to insert, remove, and care for their lenses.
- Maintain accurate and organized patient records.
- Clean and maintain equipment and instruments.
Experience:
- Previous experience as an optometric technician or in a similar role is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, such as Officemate and Eyefinity EHR, is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical coding and billing procedures is beneficial.
- Experience working with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, is desirable.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with patients.
Skills:
- Proficient in using computer systems and software for data entry and patient record management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to optometry and eye care.
- Ability to perform basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs and recording patient information accurately.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation of patient information.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to provide exceptional patient care.
