Optimae Behavioral Health Services is seeking a full-time Billing Specialist. The Behavioral Health Billing Specialist will provide support to revenue cycle and billing processes within Optimae Behavioral Health (OBH) programs. Under the supervision of the Billing Manager, this position will work within multiple electronic health record (EHR) systems, with extreme attention to detail to ensure accuracy of the revenue cycle process. The OBH Billing Specialist must understand, believe in, and demonstrate behavior consistent with Optimae LifeServices’ Mission, Vision and Values.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with charge creation processes, ensuring accuracy of all charges, within internal billing deadlines and following timely filing rules.
- Provide support in accounts receivable (AR) research, follow-up and rebilling needs.
- Becomes proficient in billing processes in EHR systems, clearinghouse systems and payer portals.
- Maintains an understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial Plan and contract payer rules and regulations related to revenue cycle.
- Acts as primary biller for BHIS/B3 services and assists with related AR needs.
- Assists with tracking of payer mail, payer projects and assists with payer project research and responses in a timely manner.
- Maintain understanding of Credentialing requirements and processes, to aid in applicable on/off-boarding, license changes, and payer change set-up and maintenance.
- Provide metrics and reporting to leadership on key billing data.
- Maintains proficiency in EHR systems and processes, and aids in testing and training related to revenue cycle within the system.
- Establish and maintain professional communication and relationships with programs, teams and workgroups to support OBH program revenue cycle success.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma is required.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a behavioral health clinic, billing or other revenue cycle support is preferred.
- Knowledge of electronic health record software, such as CareVoyant and Credible, preferred.
