The Digital Accessibility Specialist will provide oversight, technical support, coordination, support, and testing based on established accessibility standards and protocols for digital content and tools -- websites, documents, software applications, with the collective goal of achieving accessibility for all.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for identifying and suggesting potential solutions to deliver accessible websites, applications, and content on platforms based on the W3C WCAG standards and Mobile Web Best Practices.
• Perform accessibility tests and audits of websites, documents, software, and web applications.
• Work with colleagues to refine accessibility testing templates, protocols, and tools.
• Provide technical support to clients to implement modifications to digital products.
• Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend assistive software and hardware to clients.
• Contribute to research literature, practice guides, and instructional materials on accessibility and best practices.
• Collaborate with research staff and accessibility subject matter experts in refining testing protocols, training guides, and standard operating procedures.
• Manage pool of accessibility testers and closely monitor quality assurance.
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences or Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction or related field.
• Knowledge of compliance with the ADA, Section 508, Twenty First Century Communication and Video Accessibility Act (CCVA) and other accessibility related law(s)
• Experience of providing the UXDesign level accessibility recommendations and reviews, preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with web technologies and/or web content management systems.
• Experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 accessibility standards and guidelines, accessibility audit and quality assurance tools and processes.
• Experience using common assistive technologies including screen readers magnifiers and voice recognition products.
• Experience conducting accessibility testing on multiple platforms and browsers including iOS and Android mobile devices.
• Experience with Job Access With Speech (JAWS) and NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA).
• Certified Trusted Tester v5, strongly recommended.
