Position Summary: An Industrial Journeyman Painter/Blaster will paint equipment, structures, and concrete for protection and cosmetic purposes. The position will also be required to maintain, mix, and have a thorough knowledge of paint and other coating materials to ensure the equipment or structure is painted and protected as per contract or specifications. Must have experience spray painting and operating sandblasting equipment.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Apply coatings through conventional, airless, and plural spray systems.
- Apply paint with a brush and roll.
- Operate various types of equipment such as blast pots and spray guns.
- Knowledge of various painting methods and applications.
- Spray with consistent millage.
- Knowledge of various blasts.
- Prepare surfaces.
- Mix paints and fireproofing materials to desired consistencies.
- Understanding or reading of drawings and/or blueprints
- Safe operation of construction tools and equipment
- Grinding, sanding, and polishing
- Painting, caulking, and sealing
Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in industrial coatings.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to work 50 hours a week.
- Proficient in SSPC / NACE Abrasive/coating standards (preferred)
- SSPC Certification or any type of AMPP Cert. is a plus.
- Must be able to use sandblasters and paint guns with limited supervision. Know the difference between SP-5, SP-6, and SP-10.
- Read and understand Product Data Sheets.
- OSHA 10 is a plus.
- Confined space certification is a plus.
- Have reliable Transportation and Valid Driver's License.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
