What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech Language Pathologist position at Optimum Speech Partners?
The School Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will assess, diagnose, and treat communication disorders, including speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in school-aged children from preschool-8 up to high school. The SLP will collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to ensure students achieve their educational goals.
Immediate need for the 2024-2025 school year and 2025-2026
Location: Contracts located throughout NYC (Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx, Long Island)
Pay range: $50-75 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate students and develop individualized therapy plans targeting communication disorders.
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to support speech and language development in academic environments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, therapy sessions, and student progress in compliance with district and IEP requirements.
- Work on speech clarity, language processing, and social communication skills through engaging, evidence-based therapy.
- Address receptive and expressive language challenges, enhancing comprehension and verbal expression.
- Assist students in developing cognitive-communication skills, including memory, executive functioning, and problem-solving.
- Educate and train families and school personnel on communication strategies and intervention techniques.
- Provide informed recommendations for ongoing therapy, additional evaluations, or support services as needed.
Qualifications:
Education and Licensure:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Valid NY State licensure and registration as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- A Teaching Students with Speech-Language Disabilities (TSSLD) Certificate.
- Employment contingent on passing a background check.
- Commitment to a 9-month contract.
Experience:
- Previous experience working with school-aged children preferred. CF accepted!
