Overview
An accounting firm is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to join the accounting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the organization's growth. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity of our financial reporting and managing our accounting functions effectively.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting clients, including accounts receivable, payroll, and balance sheet reconciliation.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure timely regulatory reporting and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Implement and maintain financial software systems, including Xero, to streamline accounting processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop budgets and forecasts that align with organizational goals.
- Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
- Provide leadership in financial management practices to enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, EA or CMA certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar role within an accounting firm.
- Strong knowledge of SOX compliance, accounts receivable processes, and balance sheet reconciliation techniques.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting; experience with regulatory reporting is a plus.
- Familiarity with financial software systems; experience with Quick books is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong leadership abilities with effective communication skills to collaborate across departments.
