Trade Accountant
A key Optimus client is seeking a Trade Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a true commodities accountant, someone who enjoys the accounting close process through financial statement presentation.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and validate commodity invoices, track associated costs (e.g., broker fees, shipping), manage accounts payable/receivable, and ensure accurate inventory entries.
- Ensure cash settlements, follow up on late payments, maintain audit trails, and adhere to company procedures and directives.
- Provide financial data for cash forecasting, gross margin reporting, month-end close, and trading risk reports.
- Work closely with Trading, Legal, Credit, Finance, and Operations teams to support back-office functions and resolve trade-related queries.
- Assist with internal/external reporting, payment preparations, and ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Finance Director.
Job Requirements:
- 3 or more years' experience in energy derivative accounting
- Crude Oil accounting experience required, Colonial pipeline knowledge preferred
- Hands on experience in SAP required
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure
