Job Summary:
Our major client, one of the biggest tech companies in the world, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer for a 9-month contract based onsite in Redmond, WA.
Role Overview:
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for researching, designing, developing, and testing electronic devices. This role involves the design of custom electronic assemblies, integration into the system, and ownership of system sustaining while the device is in use. The engineer will develop low-volume, prototype camera systems for in-house engineering development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and approve plan layouts, including types of computers and peripheral equipment modifications.
- Review and approve product prototypes and working models.
- Supervise the functioning of equipment and approve modifications to ensure the system operates in conformance with specifications.
- Write detailed functional specifications that document the hardware development process and support hardware introduction.
- Act as a subject matter expert to engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate the interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of the overall system.
- Provide training and support to system designers and users.
- Design and develop computer hardware and support peripherals, including CPUs, support logic, microprocessors, custom integrated circuits, and cameras.
- Direct technicians, engineering designers, or other technical support personnel as needed.
Must-Have Skills:
- Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium, or equivalent.
- Experience with oscilloscopes, high-speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, or function generators.
- Experience with microcontrollers, camera modules, DC/DCs, power management, battery management systems, and USB.
- Proven technical communication skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Design of HDI PCBs.
- Design of flexible printed circuit boards.
- Defining cable looms.
- Experience with high-speed multi-Gbps interfaces.
- Design of high-power DC/DCs and hotswap/load switches and/or battery packs.
- Design of wearable electronics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
- 8 years of industry experience in electrical design.
- Proven knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Review and approve plan layouts and product prototypes.
- Supervise equipment functioning and approve modifications.
- Write detailed functional specifications.
- Act as a subject matter expert and provide training and support.
- Design and develop computer hardware and peripherals.
- Direct technical support personnel as needed.
