Description
The Optomec solutions architect efforts focus on pre-sales, post sales and contribute to product management/development feedback on use cases and technical understanding about customers’ needs and requirements in supporting the disciplines within the DED product lines. This critical role is stationed in Albuquerque, NM. The role fosters a trusted relationship with customers and the solutions architect will work to build a collaborative relationship technically with the customer and/or prospect.
The solution architect will verify and develop solutions for customers/prospects, and work alongside the field assigned sales account manager for that account. From time to time the solution architect will provide feedback on requirements and features to product management/development as well as support post-sales troubleshooting, and in some cases will be required to travel onsite for support.
The ability to develop the solutions architect skills in the company will be mapped in a career pathing activity that will be further defined by Optomec.
Solution Architect Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assisting in additive DED pre-sales activity in supporting customer/prospect requirements gathering, building test plans for POC (Proof of Concept) evaluation, and participating in sales engagement for identifying opportunity.
- Responding to technical requirements for RFP (Request for Proposal) requests for potential opportunity and participating in the sales process.
- Manage activities that take place during solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation in driving customer wins.
- Review business context for solutions to company challenges as well as defining the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options, (which may include RFIs, RFPs or prototype development), selecting the most optimal option, and participating in the development of a roadmap for the selected solution.
- Communicate the architecture to the stakeholders and collaborate and coordinate with existing domain architects in the formalization and adoption of best practice capability for Optomec DED solutions.
- Champion a structured approach to business application solutions.
- Directly assist in the development of a solutions architecture program including departmental roadmaps and project initiatives for customers/prospects.
- Assure solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with the standard guidelines of technology solutions required by Optomec.
- Influence changes to standards when necessary and participate in adopting innovative approaches to technology.
- Assist domain architecture team on solutions management and timing of financial spend in collaboration with sales account management for wins with customers/prospects.
- Support the architectural aspects of all application projects in DED portfolio offerings.
- Direct the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options incorporating business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership.
- Develop and execute solutions which further reduce the percentage of time spent on reactive work.
The solution architect is a full-time job that is salary based plus incentive commission targeted in the success of the territory they are supporting. It is the discretion of management to offer a spot bonus based on efforts outside the region that contribute to the overall success of the company. The position requires forty hours per week.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent education or work experience
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience related experience
- Demonstrated ability to communicate the complexities of technical programs and detail of technical solutions.
