We are on the lookout for a seasoned API Cloud Engineer to spearhead the evolution of our API management strategies, facilitating integration throughout our cloud framework. Focus for this role is on crafting, overseeing, and enhancing APIs to guarantee seamless interaction and dependability within our cloud infrastructure. With an initial focus on MuleSoft, expertise with AWS API solutions, particularly API Gateway and affiliated services, is essential. The perfect candidate will exhibit proactivity and possess substantial knowledge in API lifecycle management, cloud-based integration, and the implementation of secure, scalable API solutions.
Core Duties:
- API Development and Administration: Craft and upkeep robust APIs, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and align with strategic business objectives. Engage AWS API tools and MuleSoft for dependable API integration.
- Advancement of API Practices: Enhance the organization’s API practices by establishing governance, documentation standards, and best practices to optimize API usage and operational productivity.
- Security and Regulatory Adherence: Enforce security protocols in API management, covering authentication, authorization, and data security, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps, cloud, and development teams to deploy integrated API solutions that support uninterrupted data flow and application interaction.
- Performance Monitoring and Enhancement: Establish solutions for API monitoring and availability, addressing issues promptly to ensure minimal disruptions and superior user experiences.
Technical Expertise:
- API Management Tools: Skilled in the use of AWS API Gateway and related services, as well as MuleSoft for API integration and oversight.
- API Lifecycle Acumen: Comprehensive understanding of API design, development, and upkeep, with experience in RESTful services, SOAP, containers, Kubernetes, and microservices structures.
- Security Proficiency: Deep understanding of security protocols such as OAuth, OpenID Connect, and token-based authentication for APIs.
- Monitoring Skills: Acquainted with tools and techniques for API performance monitoring to maintain reliability.
- Scripting and Automation: Proficient in automation and scripting using languages such as Python, Bash, and GitHub Actions to streamline API management.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar discipline, or equivalent practical background.
- Professional Experience: Over 5 years in API management and cloud engineering, with proven expertise in API lifecycle management and AWS API solutions.
- Additional Expertise: Familiarity with Agile methods, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines, fostering the efficient deployment and integration of APIs.
This is an 12 month contract paying between $80-$110 per hour. Please note this role requires 2 days onsite per week in Washington DC - this is non negotiable so please bear in mind when applying
