We're hiring an Accounting Technician!
SALARY:
$4,046 - $5,860/per month Non-PERS Rate
$4,290 - $6,212/per month PERS Rate

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
In this role you will perform general accounting and mail services for the Office of the Secretary of State. This is accomplished in part, but not limited to:
Cash Receipting and Deposits:
- Process cash receipts using a fund accounting system.
- Select appropriate Statewide Financial Management System (SFMS) accounting codes to determine proper classification.
- Prepare and reconcile daily cash receipts to deposit slips.
- Prepare daily deposit(s) by each fund account.
- Reconcile batch sheets to checks and currency.
Receipt Reconciliation:
- Balance daily deposit transactions from the Deposit Interface System (DIS) to SFMS.
- Verify electronic submission to ensure accuracy between the bank and DIS.
- Process transactions to facilitate reconciliation to the State Treasurer.
Refunds:
- Assist Accounting Unit in the coordination of refund requests with divisions.
- Review and verify refund requests for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and propriety.
Additional Accounting Tasks:
- Process credit card transactions for all divisions.
- Review and coordinate specialized record keeping for Municipal Audits program, and Archives and Elections divisions.
- Reconcile warrants and vouchers received against SFMS and OregonBuys reports.
Policies and Procedures:
- Assist in developing and establishing policies in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ensure that the Business Cash Management procedural manuals are maintained.
