Speech/Language Pathologist
Job Title: Speech/Language Pathologist

Reports To: Designated Administrator
SUMMARY: Assists student in improving their communication disorders to allow them to be more successful in academic and social situations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in district early childhood screening programs to identify exceptional children at an early age.
- Participate in school-wide hearing screenings.
- Conduct thorough evaluations of speech and/or language needs of students referred and provide written summary reports.
- Conduct and participate in multi-disciplinary meetings following evaluations.
- Conduct and/or participate in IEP meetings and assist in writing IEP’s (Individual Education Plan).
- Prepare a schedule and provide appropriate therapy for each pupil to accomplish the IEP goals and objectives.
- Serve as a consultant/resource person for speech/language concerns to the classroom teachers.
- Maintain open communication with parents and teachers through meetings, letters, and telephone calls.
- Participate in parent/teacher conferences when possible.
- Distribute quarterly progress reports to parents.
- Supervise assigned paraeducators.
- Attend workshops, conferences and classes to increase professional knowledge and expertise.
- Maintain files of current information on students and levels of progress utilizing approved district or state forms.
- Coordinate communication disorders evaluations with other agencies if needed.
- Provide data required for participation in the Medicaid in Public Schools (MIPS) program.
- Follow district policies and procedures as adopted by the Governing Board.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Designated Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Appropriate Arizona Speech/Language Pathology Certification.
- Knowledge and skill in using current speech/language pathology techniques
SCOPE AND SALARY: 205 day contracted position, salary established on education and experience, with holidays and benefits according to district policy for certificated personnel.
EVALUATION: To be conducted by district Qualified Evaluator.
