What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Information Medical Secretary position at Orange City Area Health System?
Description: The Health Information Medical Secretary is responsible for retrieving, assembling, and reviewing dismissal charts from the previous day. The Medical Secretary thoroughly analyzes the medical record for completeness and assigns appropriate deficiencies. He/She will scan and index medical records into the EMR. The Medical Secretary is also responsible for answering the phone in Health Information. Other duties include processing Release of Information requests, including the tracking, fulfilling, and responding to all health records requests for release of information.
Number of Hours: Full-time: 32 hours/week
Schedule: Tues-Fri; 8:00am - 4:30pm and fill in as needed.
Educational Requirements: High school education or equivalent. Secretarial or Health Information training preferred. Computer experience necessary and office experience preferred.
Other: The applicant must work well with staff in a professional maintain a high level of confidentiality of patient information, abiding by all HIPAA guidelines and hospital policies. He/she must be flexible, dependable, have the ability to multi-task, and be a team player.
