Job Summary
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Special Education team as Teachers specializing in Mild / Moderate disabilities within the Division of Alternative Education. At OCDE, we are committed to fostering a safe and healthy learning environment where students can achieve academic success and develop essential life skills. Each administrative area utilizes our department's professional services to ensure that students have every opportunity to grow and succeed.
Essential Functions and Duties :
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
- Provide specialized instruction in academic, communication, self-help, social-emotional, vocational, and other skill areas.
- Create and deliver lessons, reinforce key concepts, assess student work, and monitor progress.
- Accompany and supervise students on community-based instructional outings, work programs, and field trips.
- Maintain regular communication with parents, caregivers, and external service providers to support students' educational programs.
- Keep accurate records of student academic performance and behavioral progress.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, including lunch, recess, and transportation.
- Assist students with personal hygiene, grooming, and self-help skills, including toileting and dressing.
- Manage student behavior through positive strategies and implement Behavior Intervention Plans.
