What are the responsibilities and job description for the Active Shooter Training Cadre position at Orange County Fire Authority?
The Active Shooter (AS) Training Cadre recruitment is an Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) internal recruitment. Only applications from current, full-time, OCFA Fire Captains, Fire Apparatus Engineers, and non-probationary Firefighters will be accepted.
The department is currently accepting applications for AS Training Cadre to establish a candidate pool list to fill current AS Training Cadre vacancies. AS Training Cadre members will remain on their assigned schedules and work on an overtime/special assignment basis.
The AS Training Cadre will be comprised of highly motivated operations personnel who will assist the department with various training programs and exercises as needed. Those selected for this opportunity will work alongside other fire departments and law enforcement agencies to assist with AS training including but not limited to: classroom deliveries, dynamic training, exercises, evaluation of countywide exercises. Training Cadre will be required to attend an OCFA AS Training Cadre Orientation and train-the-trainer classes as required.
The minimum qualifications for selection will include:
- Current, OCFA Fire Captain, Fire Apparatus Engineer, or non-probationary Firefighter
- Possession of a current health care provider CPR card
- Strong knowledge of OCEMS policies and OCFA SOPs
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
- Minimum of standard rating on current performance appraisal
