CLASS SUMMARY 

Incumbents are responsible for performing professional level activities under minimal guidance in administering, maintaining, troubleshooting, and/or developing computer systems and/or applications. Incumbents serve as leads on projects and to lower level staff. Incumbents also serve as a subject matter experts in area of assignment.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS 

The Senior Information Technology Analyst is distinguished from the Information Technology Analyst by its project lead responsibilities and level of experience in a specific area of expertise and enterprise scope of responsibility with minimal supervision. The Senior Information Technology Analyst is distinguished from the Information Technology Supervisor, which has full supervisory responsibilities.

• Serves as a lead, which may include: systems analysis and programming; prioritizing and assigning work; ensuring staff are trained on work methods and procedures; and performing other related activities.
• Evaluates, develops, and documents emerging tools, reporting methodologies, technologies, and standards; analyzes and makes recommendations regarding feasibility; prepares related reports.
• Designs user interface wireframe prototypes.
• Provides project management leadership, which includes identifying, analyzing, developing, and deploying new technologies and/or system upgrades. Provides expert technical direction in assigned area of responsibility.
• Performs needs assessment and recommends or develops systems improvements and/or computer related interfaces; defines and develops related end-user training requirements; prepares related documentation.
• Performs complex, responsible systems and network administration activities.
• Performs high level technical or specialized troubleshooting.
• Serves as a liaison with external vendors and customers; contacts vendors and coordinates systems maintenance activities.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

When assigned to Systems Programming:

• Provides application development, maintenance, support, and project management support for enterprise level computer systems
• Develops and maintains enterprise level information statistical report systems, and data analysis internally and to federal, state, and local agencies

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.

SENIOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ANALYST

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, intense noises and travel.

SELECTION PROCEDURES  

INITIAL SELECTION REVIEW

Human Resources reviews all initial application materials to identify qualified applicants. Applicants meeting minimum qualifications will be invited to the first phase of the recruitment process. The OCFA reserves the right to refer only the better qualified applicants if the number of applicants is high. If the number of applicants is high, the review process may include a secondary screening (by a panel of job knowledge experts) of the applications and/or supplemental questionnaires in which the better qualified applicants are referred to the next phase of the recruitment process.
