Celebrating nearly 40 years of success, the award-winning Orange County Convention Center https://www.occc.net (OCCC) is one of the largest convention facilities in the United States, and is owned and operated by Orange County Government. Located in the heart of the tourism district, the Center serves as the perfect event destination - attracting more than 200 events to the Central Florida region annually. By hosting regional, national and international conventions, meetings and trade shows, the convention center infuses the local economy with new money and expanding business opportunities. As a result, roughly 1.5 million attendees contribute approximately $3 billion to the area's annual economy. The OCCC is a leader in the events, trade shows and conventions industry and is known as The Center of Hospitality.
Performs skilled technical work specializing in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, rigging, lighting, audio, telecommunications and other building systems and services for the convention center. Interacts on a regular basis with exhibitors and center staff to ensure the highest level of customer service.
Event Utilities:
- Repairs, installs, maintains and dismantles temporary electrical services up to 480 volts including hard wire connections.
- Repairs, installs, maintains and dismantles temporary plumbing services.
- Performs troubleshooting and diagnosing difficult electrical and plumbing problems.
High school graduate or equivalent. Five years of experience in one or more of the above skilled areas of responsibility or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions in English.
Required to possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License,
Previous experience working in a convention center or highly occupied facility performing related maintenance and/or installation of utilities, air conditioning, heating, ventilation, lighting/audio services, rigging or facility maintenance.
Equipment Skills Preferred
Working knowledge and/or skills regarding electrical distribution equipment, computerized lighting and audio equipment, chillers and air handlers and/or a variety of motorized high-lift equipment.
Preferred Certifications & Licenses
Journeyman electrician's license, universal technician certification in air conditioning.
