What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Commissioner of Planning position at Orange County Government?
Resumes are being accepted for the position of Deputy Commissioner of Planning. This is professional and administrative work at a supervisory level involving responsibility for assisting the Commissioner in planning, organizing and directing the activities of the Planning Department. The work involves considerable contact with state and federal agency staff, public officials, consulting professionals, civic organizations and others relative to developing and administering a county planning program. The Deputy position will focus on land use and environmental matters or transportation and transit along with the supervision of units and consultants involving the same. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience deemed acceptable to the Commissioner of Planning.
Suggested Standards:
Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering or related field and three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in municipal, metropolitan, county or regional planning, one (1) year in a supervisory capacity responsible for the planning of a major project.
The Salary range is $68,941.56 - $154,130.27 depending on experience, with the target hiring range of $100,000-$154,130.27. Competitive benefits package includes comprehensive health, dental and vision insurance, long term disability insurance, and NYS Retirement.
Competitive examination is not a requirement for this position.
