Job Description
General Functions
This position plans major events, including news conferences for the Mayor and the Orange County Commissioners. This includes arranging, staffing, promoting and management of signature events. This position functions as staff/liaison to major events, initiatives and related committees.
Work is performed with independent judgment and self-initiative under general supervision of the Communications Manager.
Representative Duties/Assignments
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Public or Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Communications, or a closely related field and three years of progressively responsible experience in events planning, public relations, or media relations in a professional or business setting; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
Preferences
Experience in developing and maintaining rela¿¿onships with internal and external partners.
Experience in the development and implementa¿¿on of produc¿¿on schedules, run of shows, and data reports.
Ability to li¿¿ up to 50lbs.

Job Description

Representative Duties/Assignments
- Develops and coordinates high pro¿le special events and large community events involving the Mayor and/or the Orange County Board of County Commissioners.
- Serves as the lead for signature events and special projects, such as the State of the County, Women’s Forum, Simula¿¿on Summit and Economic Summit as well as the Board of County Commission mee¿¿ngs and other special mee¿¿ngs. Special projects include the Meet the Mayor, the Mayor's Annual Toy Drive and parades.
- Works closely with the Mayor’s O¿ce, Facili¿¿es Management Division and Orange TV to oversee events that take place at the County Administra¿¿on Center including the administra¿¿on of the BCC Booking pla¿¿orm.
- Serves as the liaison during joint events between Orange County and other municipali¿¿es and organiza¿¿ons or special announcements.
- Coordinates speakers, event registra¿¿on and catering orders, setup and clean-up, and other logis¿¿cs for events and programs. This includes conduc¿¿ng virtual mee¿¿ngs to discuss event logis¿¿cs with produc¿¿on teams.
- Prepares communica¿¿on materials for mee¿¿ngs/events including special events checklists and brie¿ng sheets for events. Manages volunteer ambassadors for signature events and special projects.
- Coordinates events/programs for Mayor with outside partners. Works with Orange TV for PowerPoint presenta¿¿ons for the Commission mee¿¿ngs and other material as needed.
- Assists with special communica¿¿ons projects and other projects.
- Performs other du¿¿es as assigned.
