Position:
The Certified Athletic Trainer is part of the Technical Staff for Orange County Soccer Club (OCSC), a sports business located in Irvine, California and a member of United Soccer League Championship (USL), the second tier soccer league in North America.
Job Description:
Orange County Soccer Club is seeking to hire a full time Certified Athletic Trainer for an exempt position with the Club. The Certified Athletic Trainer will collaborate with the Physical Therapist(s), Team Physicians, Performance Coaches, Sports Scientist, and other technical staff to promote and deliver the highest standard of care. The Athletic Trainer works under the direction and supervision of the Team Physicians.
Licenses or Certifications:
- NATABOC (or CATA) Certified Athletic Trainer
- In good standing with NATABOC
- CPR certification for Health Care Provider
- Preferred: possess personal professional liability insurance
Total Educational Experience:
- Minimum four (4) year college/university Bachelor’s Degree
- Master’s Degree in related health care field preferred
Work Experiences:
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working with tools and techniques common in the field of athletic training
- Demonstrated ability in developing strategic plans and goal setting
- Experience working with elite athletes and/or soccer preferred
- Experience in the development of emergency action plans for sports events
- Experience in the development and review of medical policies
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Certified Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the Physical Therapist(s) and the Team Physicians.
Tasks may include but are not limited to:
- First aid / emergency care, on-site injury evaluation
- Ensure implementation of emergency action plan for all practices and games
- Facilitate, in collaboration with HOAG and team physicians, all pre-season & in-season pre-participation physical examinations.
- Application of appropriate modalities, developing rehabilitation and prevention programs
- Maintain an up-to-date roster of player health and participation records
- Act as liaison for all members of the medical team (team physicians, physical therapists, performance staff)
- Manage and organize player treatment and evaluation schedules
- Act as liaison with HOAG to facilitate player evaluation and care under the sponsorship agreement
- Maintain and inventory supplies and clinical equipment
- Keep athletic training room and clinic area safe, clean and organized
- Coverage of all home and away team training sessions and matches
- Comply with all Orange County SC, USL Championship and US Soccer medical policies and protocols
- Comply with OSHA Standards
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
