Position Summary
Orange EV is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our team in Kansas City, KS. The Health & Safety Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our electric vehicle manufacturing processes and facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational safety, workers compensation, and electrical safety.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs and protocols tailored to EV vehicle manufacturing operations. Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk assessments of manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and hazards.
- Safety Training and Education: Develop and deliver specialized safety training programs for employees involved in EV vehicle manufacturing. Ensure all personnel are adequately trained on safety procedures, emergency protocols, and best practices.
- Safety Compliance: Stay abreast of regulatory updates and industry standards related to EV vehicle manufacturing safety. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes, and standards, including ISO, IEC, and local regulatory requirements.
- Incident Investigation and Analysis: Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents. Identify root causes, develop corrective actions, and implement preventive measures to minimize recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, injuries, and safety-related activities.
- Collaborate with Occupational Health providers to ensure employee well-being and oversee the Workers Compensation program.
- Participate in safety committees and meetings to discuss concerns, share information, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Safety Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular inspections and audits of manufacturing facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential safety hazards and areas for improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address findings and implement corrective actions.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures. Coordinate drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency protocols and enhance preparedness.
- Supplier and Contractor Safety: Evaluate the safety performance of suppliers and contractors involved in high voltage vehicle manufacturing. Ensure adherence to safety requirements and standards through effective communication, collaboration, and oversight.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience (5 years) in occupational health and safety management..
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., ISO, IEC, NFPA).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, conduct root cause analysis, and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred.
- Experience in project management and leading cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and fostering a safety-first culture.
