Orangeburg Country Club is a private, full service 18-hole golf facility designed by Ellis Maples, completely renovated in 2009, and is located in Orangeburg, SC, 30 miles south of Columbia and 80 miles north of Charleston, SC. We are seeking an assistant golf professional willing and eager to learn all aspects of the golf business and the promotion of golf in the community. Candidates should be self-motivated and are expected to provide excellent service to the guests and members of the club while performing the following duties.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Title: Assistant Golf Professional
Reports to: Head Golf Professional
Position Description: We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Golf Professional to join our team. This position is an excellent opportunity for a golf professional looking to take the next step in one's professional development. The Assistant Golf Professional will play a key role in delivering a premier golf experience to our members and guests by supporting all facets of the golf operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist the Head Golf Professional with planning, promoting, and directing all daily golf activities
- Communicate and build relationships effectively with members and staff.
- Manage tee time reservations, including member and guest play, tournament scheduling, and special events.
- Oversee and Manage the Outside Services Staff. This includes hiring, training, scheduling, and directing work.
- Administer and enforce all club rules and regulations, including pace of play.
- Play golf with members of all skill levels.
- Participate in continuing education, training, and certification programs to stay current on golf instruction, merchandising and industry trends.
- Represent the club at professional golf events and maintain PGA membership and/or certifications.
- Provide golf instruction through lessons and clinics
- Assist with all aspects of tournament operations with club tournaments and outside events.
- Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
- Perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Class "A" member in good standing with the PGA of America preferred, but not required
- Minimum of two to three years of experience as an Assistant Professional
- Prior experience in all facets of golf operations including employee management and training; merchandising and inventory control; tournament operations
- Knowledge and understanding of typical golf course procedures
- Fully knowledgeable of all Golf Shop opening and closing procedures
- Proficiency in Golf Genius tournament software required
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- $23-$25 per hour
- 40-45 hour work week, on average
