The Manager, IT Services drives the streamlined operation of the IT Department in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. The individual will primarily research, deploy, and operationally maintain implementations of technology. They will also troubleshoot as necessary and modernize existing platforms (Messaging, Storage, Telecom, Virtualization, Networking, Active Directory, etc.). They will maintain process consistency, research new technologies, and make improvement recommendations to management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Research, design, implement, and troubleshoot information systems and technology solutions in support of business needs.
- Maintain troubleshooting procedures, operations manuals, and user guidance
- Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, networks, applications, and security.
- Deploy and manage virtual systems, storage, and associated infrastructure.
- Define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
- Direct research on potential technology solutions in support of procurement efforts.
- Develop and maintain robust LAN, WAN, and Cloud capabilities, and evaluate appropriate premise and hosted offerings.
- On-call availability.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of network technologies, server operating systems, and Cloud technologies including Azure/365.
- Technical knowledge of current network and server hardware protocols and standards.
- Extensive end-user systems and application support experience.
- Strong working knowledge in both Microsoft and Linux operations and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of firewalls, access lists and systems security.
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
- Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, phones, security updates and patches.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve user issues as well as interact with systems as required.
- Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
- Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
- Exceptional customer service orientation.
EDUCATION
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience is required
- Must have experience in Microsoft and Linux platforms
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to prepare presentations, write reports and business correspondence with limited or no errors.
- Ability to effectively and persuasively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- None required.
- Certifications in Networking, Security, Microsoft and/or Linux platforms preferred.
PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Routine video conference and/or in-person meetings.
- Ability to attend planned meetings within the Washington Metro Area region.
