Description:
The Summer School Administrator is responsible for the overall administration and operation of the onsite summer school programming located at Gardiner Middle School. This includes facilitating organizational meetings, supporting staff recruitment and training, managing staff schedules and professional development, acting as a liaison between staff and principals, supervising students, managing attendance, monitoring instruction quality, and ensuring a safe and equitable learning environment for all students. The administrator will work in collaboration with various departments to organize curriculum, procure necessary equipment and safety protocols, administer the operating budget, and prepare reports summarizing the program. They will collaborate with ESY summer school administrators and staff to ensure quality programming for all students during the summer. They will also address questions and concerns from caregivers and students, and commit to equitable and inclusive practices.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Facilitates organizational meetings to ensure quality programming
- Monitor implementation of curriculum and student assessment
- Collaborates with staff to design enrichment
- Supports recruitment, hiring, and training of summer school staff
- Establishes procedure for acquiring substitute teachers and staff
- Prepares the summer school staff schedules and supports the professional development of staff prior to summer school beginning
- Acts as primary liaison between summer staff and K12 Literacy Specialist overseeing summer programming
- Determine and procures specialized equipment and safety protocols as needed
- Assumes responsibility for supervision of students and addresses questions and concerns from caregivers and students
- Responsible for student attendance and submits enrollment and attendance reports as required
- Prepares and oversees dissemination of publicity and information concerning summer opportunities offered by Oregon City School District
- In collaboration with the K12 Literacy Specialist, prepares and presents summer program reporting information
Qualifications
- Three years (minimum) successful experience as an administrator, classroom teacher or TOSA
- Oregon Administrator License
- Multilingual applicants preferred
- Ability to organize, coordinate, and communicate summer school programs
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of instructional best practices as they relate to summer programming
- Commitment to equitable and inclusive practices for all students.

Terms of Employment
April - August
- Planning time, outside of classroom or school administrative hours as necessary for the organization and development of summer programs and to recruit and training of staff
- Professional development for staff and room set up week of June 23rd
- On-site administration of summer school program, based on summer school calendar June 30th - August 8th (summer school hours Monday - Thursday 7:30am-3:30pm)
Two (2) positions are available.
$8,000 Stipend.
