POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Seasonal Custodian
REPORTS TO: Custodial Services Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY: A Custodian is responsible for performing custodial tasks as assigned to maintain the interior building surfaces, fixtures, and furnishings in a clean, sanitary, appealing, and welcoming condition for staff and visitors.
SHIFT: 2:00 - 10:30 PM
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Participates in the performance of custodial tasks, including, but not limited to:
a. Floor cleaning in exhibit areas, offices, food service areas, restrooms, stairways, and storerooms by sweeping, mopping, polishing, and vacuuming.
b. Washes, dusts, waxes, and polishes fixtures and furniture.
c. Empties trash containers, waste baskets, and recycling bins.
d. Cleans and/or replaces light fixtures and bulbs.
e. Washes wall, doors, windows, mirrors, and fixtures.
f. Cleans acrylic exhibit tank viewing windows.
g. Restocks restroom supplies.
2. Operates hand and power tools and maintains them in clean, good working order.
3. Follows safety practices and rules on all tasks.
4. Completes records and reports as assigned.
5. Sets up and tears down tables and seating for various events and meetings.
6. Performs special tasks and assists other Aquarium functions in a variety of ways.
7. Participates on Aquarium committees as an Custodial Department Representative. Contributes as appropriate, and acts as liaison between the department and committee.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Minimum levels)
High school equivalency required. Vocational training or certification in a related field is preferred. Minimum of three years of custodial experience in high traffic facilities.
Current First Aid and CPR certification is desirable. Ability to obtain and hold valid Oregon Driver’s License required. Ability to work under limited supervision, both independently and in a team environment.
