JOB SUMMARY:
OES seeks a curious, creative, and self-reflective educator for a long-term sub position teaching Visual Art in its Upper School starting April 1st, 2025. The teacher will provide traditional studio-based (drawing and painting) and digital art instruction (Photoshop; Illustrator) to students across grade levels (9-12).
The ideal candidate will recognize the teaching of art as a way to develop in high school students essential skills including critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, communication, awareness of self, cultural competency, and purpose.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Support the creative development of high school students in Drawing & Painting and Advanced Digital Studio Art classes
- Create, communicate, and maintain clear, consistent, and appropriate learning objectives and expectations that are aligned with the existing curriculum and the Art department’s goals
- Engage in assessments and projects as tools for student learning and growth
- Provide frequent, constructive, objective, and prompt feedback
- Seek to understand, value, and respond to each student
- Differentiate instruction
- Believe in each person’s potential for growth
- Maintain high standards for student behavior in and out of the classroom and maintain professional boundaries with students
- Recognize, respect, and promote the cultural differences and diversity of the individuals in the classroom and community
