What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA Micro Lab Technician position at Oregon Ice Cream LLC?
THE ROLE:
Quality Assurance Technician designated specifically to work in the Micro Lab. Duties to perform all tasks including, but not limited to, finished product microbiological plating, allergen testing, and sensory analysis of all finished products produced at OIC. Ensure all finished product adheres to the company’s food safety and quality standards. Maintain all aspects of production that relate to Quality Assurance and Control. Be able to take initiative and be self-motivated. Must have clear and accurate documentation. Be able to stay focused on identified goals and expectations of your team and production. Be a team player while being able to work alone.
Essential Functions:
- Restock inventory and communicate needed supplies to Lab Manager.
- Microbiological, physical, and chemical analyses of samples. Including retesting and communication of non-conforming products.
- Testing product, cream, and mixes to ensure they meet specifications.
- Ingredient testing as needed.
- Communication to Lab Manager and FSQA Manager of any non-conforming finished products.
- Data entry and general maintenance of QA Database and various testing logs.
- Perform allergen testing on rinse water, food contact surfaces, and finished product at start-up on all production cycles of dissimilar allergens.
- Clean and organize the lab on a routine basis to keep the area clean and free from any cross contamination of bacteria and/or allergens.
- Adhere and communicate quality, safety, and security regulations.
- Maintaining food safety and food quality through ensuring GFSI compliance.
- Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Participate in food safety training.
- The monitoring of daily production to ensure high quality and food safety.
- Assuring personnel hygiene and welfare practices within the facility and, specifically, in the Clean Room.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- At least 1 year experience in a lab environment
- Computer knowledge is essential
- Organizational and Administrative knowledge
- Ability to work well with people
- Excellent communication skills a must
- Sitting: Extended periods (a minimum of 4 hours)
- Standing: Extended periods (a minimum of 4 hours)
