Job Description:
The Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission (OLCC) oversees access to alcohol and cannabis products in Oregon through education, regulation, and distilled spirits distribution. Our aim is to protect public health and safety while supporting responsible businesses and providing funding for local and state agencies.
The agency is comprised of three major operational programs: the Distilled Spirits Program, the Recreational Marijuana Program, and the Public Safety Program. Revenue generated from these programs helps support state and local government programs.
This position is with the Public Safety Program which licenses and regulates businesses in both the marijuana and alcohol industry. This includes manufacturers, wholesalers, bars, restaurants, grocery, convenience stores and the operation of the recreational marijuana industry in Oregon.
The position is based at our Milwaukie, OR headquarters office. Please note that this office will relocate from Milwaukie to Portland, OR by the end of 2026.

About this opportunity:
- Because this position has access to criminal history information, per ORS 471.695 (2) the Commission requires a criminal history check prior to employment; the person hired will also be fingerprinted.
- This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME) union.
- This position is eligible forhybrid remote workwith options to work from home once the incumbent has gained the proficiency to perform independently.
Here’s what you will do:
As the Special Events Coordinator, you will provide support to applicants applying for a temporary or special event license. Duties include:
- Reviewing, processing, and approving special event license applications
- Explaining licensing requirements to applicants, licensees, local government agencies, special interest groups and the general public
- Coordinating with local government(s) to get approval for proposed special event and to verify receipt of proper fees
- Maintaining the online file system for special events files, including archiving applications and properly destroying applications according to the agency records retention schedule
- Monitoring incoming phone calls, Special Events voice-mail and e-mail accounts, responding or sorting communications as determined by task assignments
- Responding to inquiries about application/queue status from staff and applicants about the status of their submitted applications
- Providing backup reception coverage to front desk during absence as needed

Here’s what you need to qualify:
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data
OR
- An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Skills
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, TEAMS, Adobe Pro
- Experience working with databases, auditing reports, and performing quality assurance
- Excellent customer service skills, in person, verbally and in writing
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience working with confidential information
