Job Summary
The Division of Educational Ventures is seeking a salaried Academic Wage: VETS-UP Marketing Coordinator. This is a part-time (.49 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term position. This position is anticipated to last approximately 16 months.


The Division of Educational Ventures (DEV) is a growing, innovative, and collaborative organization with a commitment to providing high-quality online education. The division extends Oregon State University’s exceptional learning experiences including microcredentials, certificates, and degrees available to students throughout Oregon and around the world.
The division includes Ecampus, offering over 100 online and hybrid degree programs; the Ecampus Research Unit (ECRU), conducting and supporting original research in online teaching and learning; the Corporate and Workforce Education Unit (CWE), creating pathways for learners employed by collaborators in business and government; the Center for the Outdoor Recreation Economy (CORE), providing workforce development for the outdoor recreation industry; the Open Educational Resources Unit (OER), aiding faculty in adopting open course materials; and the Alternative Credential Unit (ACU), developing short-form educational opportunities.
The VETS-UP Marketing Consultant will develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and outreach strategy to raise awareness of the VETS-UP program among Oregon veterans and generate leads for participation. This role requires expertise in strategic marketing, content development, and stakeholder coordination. The consultant will collaborate closely with the VETS-UP outreach coordinator, OSU staff, and external vendors to ensure the successful execution of marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment Marketing Plan Development (30%)
  • Design a strategic marketing and outreach plan to enhance awareness and veteran recruitment.
  • Identify key messaging, outreach channels, and engagement tactics.
  • Define success metrics and establish a timeline for execution.


Marketing Material Development (25%)
  • Lead the creation of foundational marketing assets, including:
    • Web presence on an OSU platform.
    • Print materials (flyers, brochures, etc.).
    • Presentation materials (PowerPoint decks).
    • Additional collateral as identified during project implementation.
  • Ensure all materials align with OSU branding and resonate with the veteran audience and are culturally inclusive.

Content Creation (15%)
  • Serve as the lead writer for all marketing materials.
  • Develop compelling, veteran-focused messaging that effectively communicates the value of the VETS-UP program.

Vendor & Contractor Coordination (10%)
  • Manage relationships with external vendors for design, video production, web development, and other creative needs.
  • Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and project timelines.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement (10%)
  • Work closely with the VETS-UP outreach coordinator, OSU staff, and statewide Veterans offices to align marketing efforts with program goals and grant requirements.
  • Engage Veterans offices to identify preferred communication materials and distribution strategies.

Reporting & Updates (10%)
  • Provide weekly written status updates summarizing project progress, challenges, and next steps.
  • Adjust strategies as needed based on feedback and project performance.

What You Will Need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related degree.
  • 6 years of experience in marketing strategy development and execution.
  • Experience working within OSU.
  • Strong understanding of military-affiliated students and veteran recruitment.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including coordination of multiple stakeholders and contractors.
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience creating marketing strategies and materials for audiences of diverse backgrounds and various cultural identities.
