Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill two part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Glaciology Research Technician position for the School of Forestry, Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU).
The students in this glaciology research tech position will conduct data processing and analysis, equipment testing, and research logistical support as needed by glaciology research projects overseen by E. Pettit.
The projects currently active in the research group may provide an opportunity for the students in this position to participate in field work on or near glacier in Washington or Alaska.
Position Duties
80% - Data or lab sample analysis :
- Process and archive radar data.
- Analyze radar data using ice flow modeling software
- Process and archive GPS data
- Process and archive Seismic data
- Identify and monitor features in satellite imagery.
- Create figures, share analyses with other team members.
- Help collect data in a field environment.
10% - Logistics :

High School student : Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

Some (but not all!) students in this position have gone on to conduct independent research as part of an undergraduate thesis.
