Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Undergraduate Research Technician position for the Department of Crop and Soil Science at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Soil and Landscape Modeling lab is seeking one undergraduate worker to create interactive maps and promotional materials for the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. They will work mostly independently, 15-20 hours a week, supervised by graduate students.
Position Duties
- The employee will create maps and promotional materials for the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument, including soil orders and key soil properties, from SSURGO maps.
- The employee will also create an interactive website and educational resources to show these maps.
- The focus of these maps is on soil formation and distribution, soil health, soil erosion, degradation / restoration, climate change, and fire effects on soil.

High School student : Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

We are interested in students with backgrounds in geography / GIS, soil science, computer science, environmental engineering, natural resources, environmental science, statistics, or other related fields.
