Job Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Information Technology Consultant, competency level 2, position for the Agricultural Science Computer Services at Oregon State University (OSU).
This position integrates responsibilities from administrative, coordination, and information technology roles to support the operations of the Roots IT Digital Transformation. Considering the creation and execution of Prosperity Widely Shared , the Roots support team needs to ensure the College’s success by supporting innovative initiatives to advance the College and University mission.
This position integrates responsibilities from administrative, coordination, and information technology roles to support the operations of the Roots IT Digital Transformation. Considering the creation and execution of Prosperity Widely Shared , the Roots support team needs to ensure the College’s success by supporting innovative initiatives to advance the College and University mission.
This role includes assisting with program administration, project management, and providing IT support for agricultural research, education, and outreach activities within the College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS). The position plays a vital role in ensuring the successful deployment of AI-driven research and educational initiatives, contributing to CAS’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
50% Information Technology Support:
- Provide technical support and consultative services related to the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT systems.
- Assist and lead student employees with customer support and process management.
- Assist with customer and technical support both in-person and via remote technology (i.e. Zoom, Teams, etc.)
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure optimal performance of AI and data-driven research systems, supporting the integration of digital tools into academic and research activities.
- Liaison with UIT or third-party services to ensure optimal use and availability of equipment and digital services.
25% Administrative Program Support:
- Develop and implement outreach programs to engage local farmers, vendors, and community organizations in digital agriculture initiatives
- Organize and lead workshops, seminars, and demonstrations to showcase the benefits of digital agriculture technologies
- Provide program support for CAS digital programs, including building and supporting community and vendor relationships.
- Assist with supporting and deploying projects and programs that support digital agricultural projects.
- Support the concept of a digital playground and invite vendors and community members to participate and explore opportunities in digital agriculture.
- Have the ability to collect needs and research appropriate technological solutions.
- Being able to articulate benefits of digital agriculture to researchers, students, and community members.
25% Project Management and Coordination:
- Manage projects related to the digital transformation initiatives within CAS, including managing timelines, project deliverables, project budgets.
- Creating and coordinating tasks and deliverables with multi-disciplinary teams
- Ensuring successful implementation of technology-related projects, leading the project from conception to go-live.
- Managing project timeline and deliverables within defined project scope and budget. Escalate to management as necessary.
- Work closely with stakeholders to deliver results aligned with the strategic goals.
What We Require
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
