JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are on a mission to continue building a top-tier SaaS eCommerce platform on BigCommerce. Our team here at Origin works from our HQ in Farmington, Maine and North Carolina offices, and are passionate about building the right product for our customers the absolute best and right way.

We are looking for a back-end web developer to join our web development team. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the server-side operation and functionality of the website. Your main tasks will include developing and maintaining our database layer, APIs, and other web services.

You will work directly in hand with Front End Developers and UX/UI to help build and maintain the back end systems that allow both our B2B and B2C stores to thrive, and provide our loyal customers with shopping ease using our BigCommerce platform. You will help implement their server-side code and designs in order to develop and deliver both complex and interactive content managed ecommerce websites.

You will be fully responsible for leading the production, modification, and maintenance of our ecommerce websites. You will be working closely within a project team to turn creative designs into working websites.

Key skills and experience:

• Minimum Bachelor of Science in computer science, software engineering, programming, or equivalent
• Track record of successfully managing multiple company or customer websites (please have examples in portfolio)
• Proficiency with languages such as Java, Ruby, PHP, MySQL, SQL, and Python
• Proficiency in at least one of the following: JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery, HTML, Bootstrap, and CSS processors, like LESS, SASS
• Experience with database integration, hosting environment management, and scaling
• Familiarity in core AWS web-enabling technologies
• Understanding of object-oriented programming
• Experience with the design and implementation of APIs
• Technical and user experience to troubleshoot problems in the team and for clients
• Excellent time-management and communication skills

Main Responsibilities:

• Be proficient in server-side development and optimization of data, including database creation and management and debugging
• Integrate data from various back-end services and databases
• Create and maintain software documentation
• Create user-friendly and intuitive interfaces
• Create and analyze reliable and secure back-end functionality
• Maintain, expand, and scale our ecommerce websites
• Remain knowledgeable of emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities
• Collaborate with front-end developer(s) and web designer(s) to match visual design intent

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
