Research and Development Engineering Manager

Join our team at Original Saw Company as an Engineering and Research & Development Specialist, where you’ll play a hands-on role in designing, prototyping, and refining high-quality machinery used by professionals across the woodworking industry.

This is an in-office position based in Britt, Iowa. Remote work is not available. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

• Design new and existing products in SolidWorks
• Create exploded diagrams and support technical documentation
• Assist in new product development and prototyping
• Operate 3D printers and develop test parts for concept validation
• Maintain BOMs and manage part numbers within internal systems
• Implement quality control manuals and inspect key components
• Work cross-functionally with production, purchasing, and sales teams
• Support trade shows and customer technical inquiries

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read diagrams and technical documents
• Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and perform hands-on tasks in a manufacturing setting

• Prior experience in product development or manufacturing engineering
• Familiarity with SPC (statistical process control) techniques
• Experience working with sub-assemblies and process sheets
• Willingness to attend trade shows and assist in technical sales support

• Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM
