Description:
Sales managers sell a variety of carbon blacks to producers of specialty products and mechanical rubber goods. This is a field-based position. Michigan or Ohio are preferred locations; however, candidates who live in other locations that are in close proximity to a major carrier's hub airport will be considered.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing customers and representatives at the regional headquarters of global accounts.
- Develop and implement strategies for sales of improved and sustainable/renewable products.
- Create and maintain customer detail forecasts.
- Collect and analyze market share and other intelligence on customers and competitors.
- Answer inquiries from customers concerning products, their uses, and availability.
- Provide information, quotes, credit terms, bids, and other information to customers.
- Negotiate prices, terms of sales, and/or service agreements; prepare contracts and follow up on complaints and payments as required.
- Help Orion subject matter experts build and maintain relationships with their counterparts in customers’ organizations.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree is required for this position; a degree in a technical discipline, such as chemistry or engineering, is a plus.
- At least three to five years of marketing and direct account sales experience is required; some of this experience must include profit and loss responsibility.
- Experience selling raw materials or additives to producers of coatings, polymers, inks, and rubber goods is preferred.
- A background in manufacturing (especially carbon black or other rubber additives) is a significant advantage.
- The successful candidate must be results-driven with a proven track record of success managing large and/or key accounts.
- Proficiency in the use of popular sales tools such as CRM and SFDC, and the ability to interpret market data and its impact on the bottom line required.
