Job Title: Network and Software Engineer

The Network and Software Engineer (NSE) is a dynamic role that will report to the Director of the Design Division. This role will directly assist the Chief Operating Officer (CIO). This role will coordinate with the Operations, Project Managers (PMs), Sales, Professional Services Group (PSG), and Information Technology (IT) teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Design and Sales Divisions:
- Gather existing network specifications directly from customers, obtain intended system functionality from Sales, and specify the servers, workstations, switches, SFPs, copper, fiber, wireless connectivity, and supporting power, rack, and cabling hardware necessary to complete the project.
- Work with Sales and PSG to create a template to document and share the above information.
- Specify non-security application software licensing needed to successfully complete projects to include Windows and SQL licensing.
- Prepare network diagrams, rack elevation drawings, and other required documentation needed for proposals and submittals.
- Calculate and document system requirements including heat load, bandwidth requirements, storage requirements, and other pertinent design details.
- Support the Operations and IT/PSG Division:
- Work with the Operations leadership team to understand the schedules of upcoming projects and when NSE support is needed.
- Attend turnover meetings when projects are booked to define the scopes of work related to networks, head end architecture, and workstation deployment.
- Assist PMs in planning successful deployments for the scope of work mentioned above.
- Attend relevant kickoff meetings with customers to request network and related information to successfully complete the work.
- IP address ranges and other network information.
- Network architecture.
- Server architecture (physical, virtual, etc.).
- Remote connectivity details and feasibility.
- Confirm rack space, power (primary and backup), cooling, and other requirements for OSS equipment installation.
- Assess available fiber and other connectivity details.
- Clearly document relevant information.
- Coordinate with the PM, IT, and PSG resources to execute their scopes of work. Assist in network and server deployments as requested.
- Collaborate with the Operations leadership team to define processes, modify SOPs, and optimize the coordination between Operations and IT/PSG.
- Manage the successful completion of all documents related to network, server, and workstation deployments for the installation teams and for project closeout documentation.
- Architectural and connection diagrams.

Skills and Specifications
- Must have and maintain relevant certifications related to IT systems and network solutions as directed by the CIO.
- Must have proficiency with designing and deploying wired (copper and fiber) and wireless network solutions.
- Must have proficiency with designing and deploying copper and fiber connectivity.
- Must have experience with using computer aided drawing tools such as Bluebeam, Visio, and similar programs.
- Must be organized and assertive.
- Must be willing to travel periodically to survey and assess complex projects when needed.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must possess strong customer service skills.
- Must be pro-active and self-motivated.
- Must be collaborative and have a team-oriented attitude.
Education and Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science in related field is preferred.
· Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with network and headend design and architecture.
