Our client is an established and fast-growing company committed to delivering high quality property management, onsite maintenance, real estate acquisition and development services to their valued clients and closely held entities.
We are seeking a Property Accountant to perform general bookkeeping, maintain and control the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization’s multiple entities.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and timely day to day, monthly and year-end entry of the organization’s bookkeeping and accounting.
- Perform processing and recording of accounts payable transactions ensuring all approved invoices are paid accurately.
- Manage processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue and receivables ensuring tenant billings, notices and payments conform to leases and amendments including monthly/quarterly/annual tenant reconciliations.
- Perform processing of monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expense, fix assets depreciation and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries.
- Prepare and analyze budgets and forecasts to actual variance reports.
- Perform general accounts analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fix assets, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
- Prepare periodic internal and external financial statements, cash forecasts and budgets.
- Ensure vendor records are complete and prepare annual 1099’s.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal partners including Senior Property Manager, Executive Director, CFO and CEO.
- Build strong working relationships with external partners including CPA and various other vendors and clients.
- Continuously analyze current procedures and recommend changes to develop and implement best practice accounting procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Equivalent combination of education and accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
- Proficient in Yardi Voyager.
- Prior Commercial Real Estate accounting experience (not required).
- Ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work requirements.
- Skilled in reading accounting aspects in leasing and abstracts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage deadlines, prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapt to changing business needs.
