Summary: To support teachers and students in achieving high academic standards and the goals of District 135 in the areas of math/science and ELA/social studies. To support the successful implementation and ongoing growth of the Professional Learning Community (PLC) model. This position will begin with a junior high focus and may transition to supporting other grade levels in the future.

Qualifications / Experience
- Valid Professional Educator License with Middle School Math and/or Science endorsement (1 position) or
- Valid Professional Educator License with Middle School English Language Arts, Reading, and/or Social Studies endorsement required (1 position)
- Master’s Degree in content area, Curriculum and Instruction, and/or administration preferred
- Minimum of successful teaching experience of five (5) years
- Strong knowledge of the Illinois Learning Standards per content area
- Knowledge of best practices in instruction
- Strong technology skills
- Other qualifications deemed necessary by the Department of Teaching and Learning
- The Instructional Coach demonstrates knowledge of content, curriculum, and pedagogy and actively seeks opportunities to continue learning about curricular initiatives and instruction.
- Attend or facilitate meetings and/or professional development outside of contractual hours/days (compensated per CBA).
- The Instructional Coach will work directly with the building principals, junior high team leaders, and teachers to support the PLC model process and development of the PLC units and common assessments.
- The Instructional Coach will support the collaboration and communication between the grade-level teams across the district.
- The Instructional Coach will collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and the Assistant Director of Curriculum through the curriculum guide and assessment alignment process.
- The Instructional Coach uses peer coaching techniques or modeling to implement best practices in teaching.
- The Instructional Coach assists teachers in analyzing data for the purpose of developing strategies to drive improvement.
- The Instructional Coach has extensive knowledge of multiple assessment measures and data analysis to identify trends in district and school data for the purpose of improving student achievement.
- The Instructional Coach actively seeks out resources to enrich teachers’ skills in implementing the curriculum and the integration of technology.
- The Instructional Coach assists in designing interventions that engage students in significant learning.
- The Instructional Coach creates an environment of respect and rapport in working with all stakeholders.
- The Instructional Coach builds sustainable, positive relationships with students and families.
- The Instructional Coach clearly communicates District and Building expectations to the staff.
- The Instructional Coach performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Director of Curriculum and/or Principals may assign.
