Position Summary :
The Domestic Violence Monitoring Court (DVMC) Assistant Supervisor will be key in the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court’s Domestic Violence Monitoring Court Program. The DVMC Program is a part of the Court’s programming arm, entitled “Court Intervention Services (CIS)”. This position reports to the CIS Administrator and the DVMC Supervisor. The Assistant Supervisor oversees client progress within the program, supervises and trains case management staff, and ensures compliance with court policies and protocols. The Assistant Supervisor will manage all aspects of domestic violence case management, including program planning, implementation, evaluation, and outreach.
The DVMC Assistant Supervisor will work with those accused of domestic violence to increase accountability, reduce incidents of violence, and enhance public safety by connecting individuals to community-based resources and services, including Batterer’s Intervention Counseling, as required. The role also involves providing direct support and crisis intervention to survivors of domestic and family violence, educating them on the legal process, victims’ rights, and the dynamics of abuse while connecting them to necessary services and resources. The Assistant Supervisor will work collaboratively to support survivors’ safety and autonomy while ensuring the program operates effectively and compassionately.
The DVMC Assistant Supervisor must be able to pass any background check required by the Court.
Education Requirements :
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Counseling, or a related field.
Required Licensing must be up to date.
Experience Requirement :
A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in domestic violence services or related fields. Supervisory experience is required.
Knowledge and Skills :
- Knowledge in Specialized Lethality Risk Assessment for identification of risk in domestic violence.
- Handle sensitive matters with the utmost integrity and confidentiality.
- Attain knowledge and awareness of and abide by the Court’s employee handbook.
- Work effectively with diverse populations, including sensitivity to gender, racial, and cultural differences, immigrant or refugee status, as well as individuals with physical, mental, or emotional disabilities.
- React quickly and calmly to emergencies and make effective decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, and departmental policies and procedures when in stressful situations and circumstances.
- Work effectively with the public and handle individuals who are under stress with courtesy, tact, and patience.
- Commitment and understanding of the issues surrounding domestic violence impact on the lives of the survivors and in society.
- Use standard office and business equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, copiers, scanners, fax machines, etc.
- Demonstrate organizational, training, and outreach skills.
- Accurately enter and retrieve information from the court management system promptly.
- Organize, prioritize, and problem-solve in a multitask environment with minimal supervision.
- Accurately maintain a variety of complex records.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the judiciary, court administration personnel, and other private and public agency staff.
- Effectively communicate in person, on the phone, via email, and other electronic devices on a continual and repetitive basis.

This is an office-based role requiring regular sitting (70%), standing (15%), and walking (15%).
