MISSION STATEMENT
The Criminal District Court Pretrial Services Program serves the community by providing objective information for bail decisions, improving court appearances, and advancing public safety.
Position Summary
The Pretrial Services Program is under the programming arm of Criminal District Court’s Court Intervention Services (CIS) Department. The Pretrial Services Case Manager's primary responsibility is to perform duties as a case manager supervising a caseload of individuals ordered to participate in the Pretrial Services Program by the Court using the least restrictive supervision possible as dictated by the risk posed. The ideal candidate will possess the knowledge and skills to work with at-risk system-involved individuals, demonstrating care and confidence while determining their imminent needs, connecting them to community and treatment services, and ensuring the released individual's compliance with all pretrial release conditions.
Education Requirements:
A master's degree in social work, counseling, criminal justice, or a related field with valid accreditation is strongly preferred.
State License(s) must be up to date.
Experience Requirement:
At least three (3) years of case management or relevant experience is required.

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with the judiciary, court staff, and stakeholders.
- Ability to acquire security clearance from Louisiana State Police and Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.

- Attain knowledge and awareness of and abide by the Court’s employee handbook.
- Display a positive attitude and work as a team member while being mindful that they work with the public and their job performance reflects the Criminal District Court.
- Work effectively with diverse populations, including sensitivity to gender, racial, and cultural differences, immigrant or refugee status, as well as individuals with physical, mental, or emotional disabilities.
- Use standard office and business equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, copiers, scanners, fax machines, etc.
- Effectively communicate in person, on the phone, via email, and other electronic devices on a continual and repetitive basis.
- Fluency in Spanish or other languages desired.
- Report to the Judges and Judicial Administrator of the Criminal District Court as required.
- Generate Pretrial Services status reports regarding pretrial services for clients.
- Coordinate with judicial officers regarding pretrial services for clients.
- Supervise pretrial clients as required and prepare a supervision plan for services.
- Ensure pretrial clients understand the conditions of release, the role of the supervision specialist, and the supervision plan.
- Provide ongoing reminders to supervised pretrial clients of scheduled court dates and any other court-ordered scheduled activities.
- Make referrals for treatment services to the appropriate agencies based on pretrial clients’ needs.
- Address any barriers pretrial clients have meeting court appearances or compliance with court-ordered activities.
- Accurately enter and/or retrieve information from the case management system in a timely, detailed manner.
- Identify and implement appropriate measures to ensure compliance with court-ordered conditions, maximize public safety, maximize appearance in court, and remain arrest-free.
- Periodically assess pretrial clients for appropriate modification of pretrial conditions of release.
- Testify in court as required.
- Coordinate and cooperate with the Court, the Public Defender, the District Attorney, and other agencies in the criminal justice system to provide information on the status of pretrial clients when appropriate.
- Provide public access to Public Safety Assessments while maintaining the utmost confidentiality of court information and records according to state law and court rules.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Court Services Administrator and Pretrial Services Director.
- Comply with all court and departmental policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.
- Adhere to the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court Employee Handbook, Policy and Procedures, and Safety Manual.
- Ability to acquire and maintain security clearance from Louisiana State Police and Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.
- This position is in an office environment.
- Regularly required to sit, walk, and stand.
- Sitting 70%, Standing 15%, and Walking 15%.
