What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Behavior Coordinator position at Orleans Southwest?
The Behavioral Site Coordinator will collaborate with the WonderKids Regional Management Team and the WonderKids Administrative, Health and Safety, and Enrichment Coordinators to ensure that staff understand and are able to provide the necessary behavioral supports so that all children in the program may be successful.
Responsibilities:
Behavior Management: Collaborate with the Behavior Manager to develop site-specific behavior plans and empower staff to implement them effectively.
Staff Training: Train site staff to address and support students’ needs.
Communication: Ensure consistent communication with all parties to implement behavior and safety plans for the benefit of students.
On-Site Support: Provide hands-on assistance with behavior management while present on-site.
Collaboration: Work with Site Administrative, Health and Safety, and Enrichment Coordinators through collaboration, communication, delegation, and instruction.
Duties:
Registration Preparation: Review registration information and prepare informational sheets for staff.
Observation and Support: Conduct on-site observations to support both staff and students, offering breaks and debriefing sessions to build trust.
System Implementation: Implement and enhance support systems through observation and feedback in collaboration with the Enrichment Manager.
Program Support: Assist teaching artists and campers to encourage engagement in programs.
Planning: Collaborate with OSSU and Regional Management to plan support system implementation.
Family Communication: Communicate with families regarding behavior and support strategies.
Evaluation Participation: Engage in job and program evaluation processes.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Helping children manage their feelings.
Managing various behaviors in children.
Helping children self-regulate and succeed in programs.
Education: Five years of experience working with elementary-aged children is a plus, not a requirement.
Knowledge: Basic understanding of child development and appropriate support systems.
Skills:
Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
Ability to work independently and execute a vision while following instructions.
Reliability: Strong ability to meet deadlines and predetermined arrival times, along with reliable transportation.
Environment Management: Capability to manage a high-energy, multifaceted environment.
Detail Oriented: Attention to detail with the ability to handle paperwork and administrative tasks efficiently.
